English, Spanish, and Chinese 6th Edition Materials Now Available
The Preventive Health Training and Technical Assistance Program, developed by CCHP with support through the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), improves access to EMSA-approved, eight-hour Preventive Health training required for licensing. The train-the-trainers program expands the number of qualified trainers at R&R agencies in California. In addition, CCHP provides ongoing technical assistance to certified trainers on health and safety issues in ECE programs in California.
Our training curriculum provides the eight hours of EMSA approved, Preventive Health training required for child care licensing. The curriculum is arranged into three modules:
- Module 1: Prevention of Infectious Disease
- Module 2: Prevention of Injuries
- Module 3: Nutrition

The trainer guide should be used as a reference for trainers who teach as part of an EMSA-approved training program. This is our 6th Edition, renewed and approved by EMSA in 2024. It contains all required lead poisoning prevention and nutrition content.
