California Training Institute Curriculum for Child Care Health Consultants

The First Edition of the California Training Institute curriculum for Child Care Health Consultants is a 6-day curriculum with 17 modules developed for health professionals to become Child Care Health Consultants. The content is primarily based on the National Training Institute for Child Care Health Consultants and includes additional information on California regulations, staff health, cultural competence, etc. The curriculum is free to download or for purchase through our publications order form (PDF; 105KB; 4pp).

The curriculum took over 4 years to develop with the help of 20 staff persons. It was modified regularly to meet the needs of our trainees and to include the most recent information available on each topic.

The Partnering with California’s Early Care and Education Community to Prevent Childhood Obesity Guidebook (ECE Guidebook) provides an overview of California’s ECE environment that can help guide public health professionals in engaging with ECE partners.


Specifically, the ECE Guidebook assists public health professionals such as health educators, registered dietitians, nurses, and others in understanding ECE in California. It provides information about the ECE landscape, funding, laws, best practices, advocacy, and quality improvement. It builds on existing strategies to reduce childhood obesity and provides ideas for collaboration.
